Lizzie May David was born Me-lis-see Elizabeth Fibby Wilson July 4, 1907 at Doaksville, OK to James Van and Rosie Ana (Tims) Wilson. She passed from this life March 25, 2008 in Antlers, OK at 100 years of age. Her father called her Lizzie May and unknowingly wrote her nickname on legal papers instead of her given name, so she legally became Lizzie May. Lizzie was raised in a Choctaw home, not knowing the English language until she was 13 years old when her father sent her to school at High Hill. She said learning the English language was one of the hardest things she had ever had to do. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, embroidery, appliqué, coloring, playing the organ, reading the Bible, and going to church singings. Lizzie was a domestic employee most of her life. After she retired from public working, she became a volunteer Foster Grandmother at Jones Academy. She was of the Assembly of God faith and was a loyal servant to the Lord. Her favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Her favorite book of the Bible was "Ruth". Lizzie was preceded in death by her husbands: Impson Mataha Thomas and Virgil David; parents: James Van and Rosie Ana Wilson; sons: Clarence Thomas, A.J. Thomas, and Jimmie Ray Thomas; grandchildren: Darrell Thomas and an infant boy; brothers: Daniel Wilson, Darius Wilson, Islam Wilson, and Arthor Wilson; and sisters: Isabel Wilson, CanDaisy Wilson and Clara Wilson Dees.
