Emma Sue (Foreman) Russell was born September 18, 1962, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Isaac and Ella Mae (Blackfox) Foreman. She departed this life on Monday, March 1, 2010, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 47 years, 5 months, and 11 days.
As a child, Emma attended schools at Leach and Oaks Mission. She lived in Twin Oaks before moving to Tulsa over 32 years ago. She and William "Red" Russell were married for over 28 years before his passing on July 2, 2005. Emma had been an employee of Cherokee Casino (Tulsa) for over 16 years, currently working as Maintenance Lead.
Emma was a part of the Bowen Indian Baptist Church in Tulsa. She loved to cook and was especially known for her potato salad. She enjoyed watching drag races and to travel. Emma also had a love for music. She collected 1950s and 1960s era collectables, dolls, and Route 66 signs. She also treasured time spent with her family.
Emma is survived by: 1 son: Bill Russell, his wife Misty, and their children, Mia, Alyssa, Justus, Landon, and Makaela, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 daughters: Susan Russell, her daughter, Emmalena, and her fiancÚ, Robert Green and Amanda Andrews and husband James; all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her mother: Ella Mae Foreman of Twin Oaks, Oklahoma; 6 sisters: Nora Douglas and husband Ray of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Georgia Buck of Catoosa, Velma Blossom and husband Jerry of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Ida Tindall and husband Rick of Twin Oaks, Oklahoma, Darlene Foreman of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Patricia Foreman and husband Nathan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: Ivan Foreman of Twin Oaks, Oklahoma and Johnny Foreman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 31 nieces and nephews including: Sonny Cooper and Brianna Cooper of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 36 great nieces and nephews; 1 great-great niece; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
Traditional wake services will be held 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Leach, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 5, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Leach, Oklahoma. Reverend Jimmy Jones will officiate. Interment will be at Cloud's Creek Cemetery near Colcord, Oklahoma.
