Mrs. Abney Rites 2 P.M. Wednesday Holiness Church
Services for Mrs. E.E. Abney, 86, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Pentecostal Holiness church with Rev. Burt Miller, Altus, former pastor, preaching the sermon. He was assisted by Rev. Ogland Barger, pastor. Arrangements were in charge of the Pitcher funeral home. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery.
Mrs. Abney died at 11:30 p.m. Monday in the Curd hospital, after an illness of five years. She had been in the hospital here since last July.
Ida Lee Hesson was born April 20, 1869, in Indiana. When she was a young girl the family moved to Arkansas. She was married to Eli Elsworth Abney Dec. 10, 1886 at Walnut Ridge, Ark.
Mr. and Mrs. Abney came to the Indian Territory about 1900 locating at Henryetta. They came to Carnegie in 1937. Mr. Abney died Jan. 25, 1948.
Mrs. Abney was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness church here, and was active until her health failed.
Survivors are three sons, S.L. Abney, Terribela, Calif.; Rev. Charles Abney, Cyril, and Roy Abney, Chickasha, and one daughter, Mrs. G.D. Franz, Killeen, Texas. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
The sons and daughters and their families were all here for the funeral except S.L., who visited his mother recently.
