Caesar and his parents came to Indian territory around 1829 over the "Trail of Tears". He married Nancy Lincoln, daughter of the famous Seminole interpreter Abraham Lincoln. Osceola the famous war chief of the 2nd Seminole War was Abraham's newphew.
Caesar and his family founded a small freedman community called Bruner Town. Bruner Town no longer exists. Caesar was elected Band chief shortly after the Civil War. The band bears his name to this day.
He later migrated to Turkey Creek along with most of his band. Even today many of the Turkey Creek inhabitants are members of the Bruner Band
