Jerry Lynn BARNETT, 58, of Perryton, died April 17, 1998.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 20, at First Christian Church in Perryton, with Rev. Craig VanDeburgh of the Community Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Blue Mound Cemetery, under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker.
He was born December 4, 1939 in Beaver, Oklahoma, and graduated from Perryton High School in 1958. He attended Texas Tech, majoring in agronomy, then returned to the family farm to continue the farming operation after his father's death.
He married Mary Anne COLLINS in 1961 in Perryton, and they lived here briefly before moving back to the family homestead. He later married Rebecca SOLOMON on October 7, 1993 at the family farm.
He was a member of Community Christian Church in Perryton, and was a certified board member of North Plains Electric Cooperative.
He also received his director's certification for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, served on the Perryton Equity board from 1971-83, and was actively involved with 4-H.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard BARNETT, and a son, Roger.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of the home; one son, Michael BARNETT of Dublin, California; one daughter, Deborah HIGGINS of Sacramento, California; one step-son, Douglas SIEMENS of Troutdale. Oregon; his mother, Isabel BARNETT of Perryton; two sisters, Peggy SONNAMAKER of Oklahoma City and Helen SLUDER of Perryton; one step-daughter, Lori ELROD of Houston; two grandchildren: and three step-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Community Christian Church or Ochiltree General Hospital Hospice.
