Harold "Bud" Blevins attended elementary school in Blue and later South Mount Homa. As a young man, the Blevins' family moved to California to work in the fruit orchards, returning numerous times throughout the years. He married Clara Lorene Gibson on Nov. 8, 1949, in McAlester. Shortly after marriage, he began working at the McAlester Ice plant as a truck driver, later driving for Joe Ogiela at the McAlester Army Ammunitions Plant. He decided to start making long haul trips for Charles Komar and Sons to New York. After the long trips, the family moved to Sallisaw where he worked in the warehouse for the Robert S. Kerr Navigation System. The family returned to McAlester and he began working as a truck driver hauling materials for the construction of the Eufaula Dam. He retired in 1990, after working more than 15 years for United Parcel System. He was a very active member of the Blue Holiness Church, where he taught Sunday school and enjoyed the fellowship of his church family. He also took care of the maintenance of the church. He enjoyed riding horses, coon hunting, and fishing with his grandsons. Bud passed away at McAlester Regional Health Center at the age of 82. Survivors include his wife, Clara Gibson Blevins, of the home; three daughters, Diana Joan Blevins, of the home, Regina Blevins Steele and husband, Richard, of Tannehill, Deana Blevins Wilson and husband, Roger, of McAlester. Also, six grandchildren, Kendall Steele and wife, Peggy, of Okemah, Nathan Steele and wife, Hillary, of Tannehill, Randall Wilson and wife, Tonya, of McAlester, DeLana Wilson Bohn and husband, Robert, Doddridge, Ark., and Jacob and Blake Wilson, of McAlester. And, six great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; one sister, Earline Blevins Snow, of McAlester, and one brother, Raymond Blevins and wife, Maggie, of Nowata. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace Blevins; two brothers, Leo Blevins and Lloyd Blevins, and a sister, Dorma Blevins Carrion. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 13, 2010 at Bishop Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Paul Snow and Roger Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Blue Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester. Pallbearers will be Jim David Gibson, Richard Gardner, Mike Blevins, Greg Beshear, Jim Black and Jack Shropshire. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Gibson, Joe Carrion, Wade Dunigan, Carrol Beshear and Donald Williams.
