The funeral for Minnie "Blanche" Derrick, 88, of Woodward, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Woodward. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaw Funeral Home, Vici.
She was born March 26, 1918, near Camargo, to Roy and Gertie Duncan Balfour and died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006.
She attended school at Camargo. She married Clyde Maddox in 1933. They made their home in the Camargo area. During World War II they moved to San Francisco and found work in the ship building industry. She was a welder. He died in 1946. She worked in a cafe and cleaning houses. She married Estle "Speck" Derrick in 1950. They made their home in Vici, Laverne and Creede, Colo. They made their final home in Woodward. She was a member of First Christian Church of Camargo.
Surviving are two sons, Don Maddox of Albuquerque, N.M. and Joe Maddox of Woodward; two daughters, Mary Robertson and Wanna Braudrick, both of Woodward; one brother, Gene Balfour of Vici; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde Maddox and Estle ‘Speck' Derrick; two daughters, four sisters, three brothers and two stepchildren.
