Carl G. "C.G." Akins was born on June 26, 1943 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Glendon Leo Akins and Theresa Elizabeth (Macaluso) Akins. He passed from this life on July 20, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 24 days after his 69th birthday.
C.G. had lived in the Kiefer community for over 38 years. He retired from the Tulsa Police Department after serving 35 years as a patrolman, detective and corporal. He also retired from Tulsa Junior College after working 27 years as a security officer. He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Police. When he was not working, he loved watching baseball, especially his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers, the Oklahoma City Thunder, traveling to the mountains and enjoying good food.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy E. (Dodson) Akins, whom he married on September 4, 1964 in Henryetta as well as by his parents; Glen & Theresa Akins of Coalton, OK, 1 daughter; Christy Smith and husband Cliff, of Bixby, 1 son; Carl G. Akins, Jr., 2 brothers; Glendon L. Akins, Jr. and wife Donna, of Jacksonville, FL & Billy Joe Akins and wife Robin, of Glenpool, 6 grandchildren; Carl Gene Akins III, Casey Lynn Akins, Stefani Nicole Fike, Andrea Danielle Akins, Madison Leigh Legg & Zachary Braden Legg, 3 great-grandchildren; Landon Gene Akins, Santino Alexander Akins & Evie Nicole Fike and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Casket bearers and burial honors will be provided by the Tulsa Police Department Honor Guard.
