Charles L. "Chuck" Allen, 53, of McAlester, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at McAlester Regional Health Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Jim Gantt officiating, assisted by Andy Woods. Burial will be at Arpelar Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester. Born April 23, 1955, on the Naval Aviation Base in Hutchinson, Kan., he was the son of Charles Edward and Mayvis Blanche Preiestor Allen. As a child his family moved to McAlester where he graduated from McAlester High School in the Class of 1973. He married Cheryl Lynn Gray on March 3, 1974, in Krebs. He began his career in the oil field with The Western Company which later became BJ Services. He was currently a district technical supervisor, working for more than 26 years. He and his wife also owned Allen's Westside Salvage. He enjoyed playing golf, playing X box video games, visiting with his friends and working around his house. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Allen, of the home; his mother, Mayvis Allen, of McAlester; an aunt, Laura Davis, of McAlester. Also, one daughter, Cherrie Allen, of McAlester; one son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Kara Allen, of Elk City; his granddaughter, Claire Allen, of Elk City, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Allen.
