Matilda Newman was born January 8, 1862. She died may 7, 1914 in Oklahoma, She is buried at Agency Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

This is the daughter of Ketch and Anne McQueen. She was born in Texas and returned to the Creek Nation in the 1880's. She is the sister to Dave Mcqueen, Bettie Jenkins,and Maggie Jones. She and her siblings were rejected from enrollment into the Creek Nation. They're 1896 Creek Citizenship Enrollment Application 77. Her paternal grandparents are Abraham Kernal and Hager McQueen. Her aunts and uncles are Prisilla "Silla" McQueen Franklin, Tamar McQueen Franklin, Rose McQueen Kernal, Judy McQueen Davis and Edward Anderson.

The cemetery has been attacked by vandals. Old Agency Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma is an historical landmark dating back more than 200 years. There is a project now to restore it to its once beautiful condition. It is under preservation. They are accepting contributions and volunteers.
