Funeral services were read for James H. Donelan, Montrose, SD on September 18, 1950 at St. Patrick's church in Montrose. He passed away on September 14, 1950 after a month's illness.
Interment was at St. Patrick's cemetery.
James H. Donelan was born on March 11, 1871 at Marcus Ferry, Iowa, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Donelan. He was the youngest of nine children. In 1882 the family moved to the Montrose vicinity and he continued to make that community his home for the remaining 68 years of his life.
On July 28, 1898 he married Agnes Healy. They were among the early settlers who contributed to the building of the community and the parish of St. Patrick's church at Montrose, SD.
He continued the occupation of farming, enjoying good health until August 19 of this year, when he suffered a stroke from which he never fully recovered.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary, who died at the age of 13.
The survivors include the widow, of Montrose, SD; five sons, Clifford of Sioux Falls, SD; Felix and Jerry of Montrose, SD; Bob of Canistota, SD; and Bill of Salem, SD; two daughters, Mrs. Jacob Kuyper and Mrs. Herman Warn of Salem, SD; two sisters, Mary Jones and Margaret Webster, of Emery, SD; and 28 grandchildren
