She married John E. Boland, an Air Force pilot, in 1949 in Rapid City. Mary and her family moved often, but the Black Hills were always home and where she finally settled in 1972.
Mary enjoyed traveling, dancing, shopping with her sister, Georgia, and was always up for a colorful political conversation. Mary always had a helping hand for stray animals. In later years she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sisters.
Mary is survived by her son, John (Rhonda) Boland, Rapid City; her daughter, Marti Woldt, Watertown; granddaughters, Melissa and Amanda Boland, Rapid City, Katie McLaughlin, Watertown, and Colleen Schmidt, Sioux Falls; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Thursday, April 19, at Kirk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brent Woodard officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery in Keystone.
