MRS. ANNIE BARTHLE PASSES TO BEYOND
DIES AT ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL FOLLOWING LINGERING ILLNESS

Died at the St. Luke's Hospital at Aberdeen Friday evening, July 8th, 1921, Mrs. Annie Barthle.

Deceased was born May 23, 1886, in Nixdorf, (Bohemia) formerly Austria-Hungary. In March, 1891, she came to Braddock, Pennsylvania, in which state she resided until 1893, when she moved to Cincinnati, but during the following year returned to the old world. She again came to America in 1895, making her home in Florida. She was united in marriage to C. J. Barthle June 23, 1903, and until 1913 they made their home at St. Joseph, Florida. Following a residence of two years at San Antonio, they came to South Dakota, settling in Groton, where they made their residence up to the tine of her death.

Her life companion and four children are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother; Andrew, Frieda, Hilda and Robert.

Although her illness had been of long duration, death came as a shock to her many fiends and relatives. She was taken to Aberdeen to St. Luke's hospital a few days prior to her death and although very ill none thought that the end was very near.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. Father L. Murphy officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery. She ran her journey to life in 35 years. To her the struggle and burden of life are ended. "God touched her with His finger and she slept," but not until a beautiful life was lived and noble example of patience, fidelity to truth and faith were given. Among all she ranked as a woman of refinement, sympathy, a kind neighbor, devoted mother and true friend, and withal a woman of heroic mold, bravely meeting the stern requirements and often the disappointments of life. Much has been taken from this husband and the little children; sweet ties have been severed, but much is left. So it is ever when a life is nobly and divinely lived.
