Konawa, Okla. Funeral services for longtime Midwest City resident Luther Delbert Bryan are scheduled for 1 pm Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at the New Hope Baptist Church west of Tecumseh of which he was a member. Pastor Hugh Willoby will be officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery next to the church. Services are under the direction of Caskets, Inc., Del City. Viewing will be held the morning of the service at 9 am til 11 am at the church.

Delbert went to be with his lord at the age of 92 on Feb. 10, 2010 at the Oklahoma Veteran's Center in Norman. He was born to Luther Henry Bryan and Annie Lou (Stowe) Bryan at Sayre, in western Oklahoma, on Oct. 3, 1917.

Delbert married Emma Beatrice Stewart on Aug. 17, 1940, at Sayre. They were married for 67 years and together they had three children, Darlene Johnson of Konawa, Dean Bryan of Tecumseh, and Jim Bryan of Tecumseh.

He attended Sunny Point School, near Sweetwater, Oklahoma, through the 8th grade and was a World War II veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed on the island of Guam for two years.

He was a steelworker for WW Steel for almost 30 years. He enjoyed listening to gospel and country and western music. Some of his hobbies included dancing, fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Delbert leaves behind to cherish his memory three children; one brother, George Bryan; two sisters, Annie Belle Atha and Doris Faye Peters; as well as nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Beatrice, parents, six brothers, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Pall bearers will be his great-grandsons, Caleb Field, Jarrod Field, Christopher Wright, Christopher and Bradley Harkrider and Joshua Bushong. Honorary bearers will be Kevin Bryan, Carey Field, Darrel Bryan, Brad Bryan, Chance Oaks, Corey Fritsch, Justin Roe, Paul Bryan, Hayden Bryan and Micah Gibson.
