WOMEN DIES FROM BURNS IN THURSDAY FIRE:
Mrs. Thor Gulbranson Trapped in Upstairs Bedroom-Funeral Held Monday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thor Gulbranson who lost her life last Thursday in a fire at the John Gulbranson home, were held Monday afternoon, September 3, at the Davis Funeral Parlors and at the Clare church.
Betsy Paulson was born August 26, 1854, in Nitedahl, Norway. She came to America in 1881 and was united in marriage to Thor Gulbranson in 1882. She passed away August 30,1934. Interment was made in the Clare Cemetery.
To Mr. and Mrs. Gulbranson, nine children were born. Three, Louise, Edwin, and Clara proceeded her in death. The surviving children are: Thea Turner of Bently, N.D.; John, Konrad, Josie Hedrick, Tilman, and Theressa Headrick, all of Flandreau. There are also Four Step-Children, Alfred and Otto of Flandreau, Inga Stewart of Fairbank, Iowa, and Carl of Howard, S. D.. There are forty-six grandchildren and thirteen great grand Children.
Out of town people attending the funeral were Herb and Arnold Kramer, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Stewart of Fairbank, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gulbranson and daughter of Howard; Mrs. Eva Gulbranson, daughter Lavina, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Thompson, of Brookings; Henry Johnson, Mrs. Laura Slettner, Mr. and Mrs. Olden Morrell, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Morrell, Mr. and Mrs. Melford Morrell, Mr. and Mrs. Rhinike, Mr. and Mrs. John Williamson, Mrs. George Williamson and son Glenn, all of Madison; Mrs. Irene Baumen of Chester; Mrs. A. C. Turner of Bently, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. John DeNeui, Lillie Wetzel of Tea; Hallie Johnston and son Sherman and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Goings, Mr. and Mrs. Mayle, Harold Aimes, Bernett Williams, and Charlie Mitchell, all of Sioux Falls.
