"Samuel Beaton died at his home, four miles south of this city, Saturday evening, February 1. He had been ill for two months of dropsy and heart disease. He was born in Nova Scotia in 1833. Of his seven children, one son and three daughters were able to be present t his funeral. Elder R.E. Harter of Aberdeen conducted the funeral, assisted by Elder Hayes, at the chapel of the Industrial School, Monday afternoon. Interment was in the Civil Bend cemetery."
