SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. L. AHRENDSEN
TUESDAY, NOV. 2ND
WYOMING...Mrs. Leonard Ahrendsen, 65, died suddenly at her home in Wyoming early Sunday morning, Oct. 31.
Funeral services were held at the Wyoming Methodist church Tuesday, Nov 2, with Rev Nevin Williams in charge. Interment was in Wyoming cemetery.
Mrs. Leon Kyarsgaard was organist, and accompanied Mrs. Otto Koranda and Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen, vocalists.
Pallbearers were Keith Pence, Howard Freeman, Ernest Hartwig, Raymond Von Sprecken, Lyle Ahrendsen, and Howard Edwards.
Alta Johnson Ahrendsen was born March 18, 1900, on a farm near Wyoming, second daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth Zak Johnson. Her early life was spent near Wyoming where she attended school.
She was married to Leonard Ahrendsen May 15, 1918. Couple started their married life in Wyoming and after short periods of living in Cedar Rapids and Anamosa, returned in 1944, to make their home on a farm just south of Wyoming.
Mrs. Ahrendsen was an active participant in the affairs of the community. She was a member of the Methodist church and the American Legion auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; daughter, Betty, Mrs. James Conrad, Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Freeman and Mrs. John Von Sprecken, both of Olin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
