MANSON - Richard M. Anderson, 67, died on Mon. Jan. 24, 2011, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Fri. Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Rockwell City with Pastor Owen Englin officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Rockwell City. Visitation will be held on Thurs. from 4 until 7 p.m. at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson.

Richard Michael Anderson was born at Rockwell City, IA, on May 17, 1943, to Edward and Lola (Michaels). He received his twelfth grade education at Rockwell City High School and then joined the U.S. Navy, serving for the next four years, having fought in Viet Nam. He was united in marriage with Janet Kay Pelz on Feb. 17, 1968, in Rockwell City. He worked for Anderson/Debolt earth moving construction for several years and then owned and operated his own earth moving business and body shop business. He went to work for Calhoun County until health issues forced him to retire. He truly loved his kids, grandkids, gardening, hunting, fishing, playing cards and enjoyed watching the construction crew build new Highway 20.

Richard is survived by his wife Janet; sons Scott (Tracey) Anderson and Mike (Teresa) Anderson both of Rockwell City; daughters Brenda (Don) Schultz and Melissa Anderson both of Pomeroy; grandchildren Danielle Anderson, Courtney Kilpatrick, Cayla Rhea, Richie Rhea and Landon Anderson; brother Bill (Janet) Anderson of Rockwell City; sisters Barb (Charlie) Comstock of Lake City, Lorraine (Gary) Hildreth of Topeka, KS, Linda Reeder of Dubuque, Lola (Cal) Peterson of Carroll, and Andrea (Glen) Wuebker of Rockwell City. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert and Eddie Anderson and sister Jan Snooks.
