Eagle Grove – Alfred "Bud" Anderson
Alfred C. "Bud" Anderson, the son of Lars and Agnes (Andersen) Anderson, was born August 22, 1920, in Courtenay, North Dakota. He attended schools in Holmes and Clarion. On December 29, 1941,
Alfred was united in marriage with Virginia Mae Thorne in Bethany, Missouri. After their marriage, the couple lived on farms north of Goldfield and Renwick and moved to Eagle Grove in 1966. Alfred farmed until retiring in 1966, then he worked for Promico, Sadler Construction and B & E Construction. He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Alfred enjoyed fishing and camping.
Alfred passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice in Fort Dodge, at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur and Albert Anderson; sisters, Esther Roseland and Margaret Trotter and granddaughter, Nikki Russell.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Anderson of Eagle Grove; 4 children: Merle Anderson and wife Tammy of Fort Dodge, Judy Hoveland and husband Mike of Stratford, Larry Anderson and wife Kathy of Eagle Grove, Mary Russell and husband Tony of Twin Lakes; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Marie Knight of Eagle Grove, Lila Roseland of Eagle Grove and Lillian Stevenson of Clarion and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Visitation is Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
