This union was blessed with three children, Clarence R., who died at the age of six months, Orpha Alberta, who died at the age of twelve years, and Orville C., who with his family was the comfort of his later years.
He was converted and united with the church at Stringtown, Missouri, when a young man and served as one of the officials of the church there. He later moved to Centerville, Iowa, and placed his membership in the Methodist church and was a member there until the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his departure his dear wife, his son Orville C. and wife, three grandchildren, John Junior, Charles Joseph and Virginia May Abbott; three half brothers, Ephrim, Howard and David of Rushville, Illinois; six half sisters, Mrs. Iva Miller and Miss. He was a lover of his home and family, a devoted husband and a kind and loving father.
He passed to his eternal reward May 21st, 1938, at the age of seventy years, four months and eleven days.
Oh dear father, how we miss thee,
How our hearts are pained with
But we know from earthly sorrow
Thou hast found sweet relief.
Rest thou, dear beloved father,
By thy dear Redeemer's side.
Till we too shall end life's journey
And together with Him abide.
Funeral services were held from the Exline Methodist church on Monday afternoon, May 23, conducted by Elder E. E. Withrow, with interment at Centerville, at Oakland.
