Obituary from the Davenport Democrat 16 November 1936, p. 15:
Job Dodge Dennis, 88, president of the Farmers' Savings bank at Princeton, Ia., and a resident of Scott county since 1856, died at his home in Princeton, at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, following an illness of two months' duration. He was a former member of the Princeton school board and of the town council. As a young man he was employed on the Mississippi river as a lumber raftsman. Mr. Dennis was one of the original organizers of the bank which he headed until his death. He was born in Lyndon, Ill., Oct. 11, 1848 and came to Scott county with his parents in 1856. He was educated in Davenport. On Sept. 12, 1875, he was married to Miss Caroline Metzger in LeClaire. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last September. A short time after the marriage Mr. Dennis purchased the general store in Princeton, operating the establishment for 25 years and conducting the elevator business. He was known as one of the largest river shippers in the area at that time. In 1902, he moved to Davenport where he made his home until 1918 before returning to Princeton.
Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Bertha A. of Davenport; Mrs. Charles R. Rink [sic] of Los Angeles; Mr. Andrew Horn, Berkeley, Calif.; Mae Dennis, a missionary, stationed in Mainpui, India, and Lettie Dennis of Des Moines; three sons, Job Jr., Mt. Pleasant, Ia., and Walter and Paul of Princeton. Eight grandchildren are also surviving.
The body was removed to the McGinnis funeral home. Funeral services will be held in the Princeton Presbyterian church at 2 p.m., Tuesday. Burial will be in the Princeton cemetery."
