Last Rites for Mrs Neva Bowen
Funeral services for Neva Daisy Bowen were held Friday, Feb 11, at 2 pm at Mansfield Funeral Home, the Rev Clarence Woollard officiating.
Casket bearers were Kenneth Scott, Jim Kelley, Larry Kidwell, Jim Rountree, Bert Scott and Everett Waymire. Mrs H A Dunbar and Mrs Eleanor Scott cared for the flowers and Mrs Dwight Kelley was at the registry book. Music was furnished by Mrs W G Blackburn, organist, and Mrs Kenneth Scott, soloist, singing "In the Garden" and "Nearer My God To Thee".
The following life sketch was read:
Neva Daily Parker was born Jan 21, 1901, to Addie (Mitchell) Parker and Ray Parker of Emerson.
She was one of 13 children and grew up in the Emerson vicinity, attending McLain and North Grove rural schools and Emerson high school.
On March 2, 1921, she was united in marriage to Weeren Gilbert Bowen and to this union one daughter, Lorraine and two sons, Jack and Jim were born.
They also took a nephew and a niece , Clarence and Pat Roedel into their home for a number of years, after their mother died.
Neva was a member of Hastings United Methodist Church. She spent her entire life in the Emerson and Hastings area until three years ago when she moved to Sedro Woolley, Wash, where she passed to her eternal rest on Sunday, Feb 6, 1972.
She was a devoted wife and mother and had a great love for the outdoors. Her hobbies were gardening and flowers.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Weeren, her parents, Mr and Mrs Roy Parker, three sisters, and an infant grandson, Jack Bowen, Jr.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Lorraine Boos, and husband Clarence and grandson Jerry of Clear Lake, Wash; son Jack and wife Virginia and grandson Doug of Malvern; son Jim and wife Donna and family of Sedro Wooley, Wash, and her granddaughter Jane (Boos) Hansen and husband Dennis of Deloit; nine brother and sisters of Washington, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Interment was in the North Grove cemetery, Hastings.
