Edward De Boer, 79, of Orange City, died Thursday, March 28 at a Sioux City hospital.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Reformed Church at Orange City. The Rev. Donald R.. Lenderink officiated. Burial was in the Newkirk Cemetery. Family visitation was Sunday from. 2-4 p.m. at the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home.
Mr. De Boer was born Oct. 13, 1905, near Alton. He married Alice Nettinga on Jan. 1, 1931 at Hull. The couple farmed near Newkirk. They retired and moved into Orange City in March of 1971.
Mr. De Boer was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church. He was a former member of the board of directors of Mid-America Dairymen. He was a strong supporter of the Orange City community, particularly at tulip time, and was an active member of the Republican Party.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Chris (Cornelia) Van Hal of Valley City, N.D., Mrs. Rodney (Alma) Langstraat of Hospers, Mrs. Marjorie De Yound of Eagle prove, and Mrs. Norbert(Vera) Bradley of Lenox; three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Minnie) Scholten of Orange City, Mrs. Jake (Betha) Zwagerman of Hospers, and Mrs., Henry (Elvina) Kaminga of Newport, Ore.; and eight grand-children.
