She was the illegitimate daughter of Eliza ? and Cornelius Rhoades. They were never married, but appear in several censuses as man and wife. Frances was the name of his mother, so Frances was the name of this child. She knew her 1/2 siblings from her father amd his wife and she and her daughters visited with them, calling them "aunt". Her son, who adored her, never knew this about his mother until later in life. Frances's mother, Eliza, was a widow named Newcomb when she got pregnant by Cornelius, but Frances took the name Newcomb rather than Rhoades, because it was the name of her mother and her 1/2 siblings of her mother's, and it was just easier than explaining the different surname.
She married John Walker Boustead, Sr. and was the mother of Betty Jean Adams, Doris Schoon, John Walker Boustead, Jr., Barbara Ellen Frye and Judith Alwin. Sister of John Newcomb and David Newcomb.
Her biological father was Cornelius Rhoades, but she went by the name of her mother's deceased husband, which was Newcomb.
