Vernon M. Borden, 86, formerly of the Prosser/Paterson areas, passed away on November 17, 2003 at his current home in Hermiston, OR. He was born December 18, 1916 at Pateros, WA to Thomas and Birdie Mae Borden.
He married Geneva Rose Travis at Kiona, WA on October 10, 1940. They shared 61 years together.
Vernon was an early day cowboy and chased horses across the Horse Heaven Hills while the bunch grass still stood tall. He worked the wheat ranches of Horse Heaven and later joined a crew on the SPNS Railroad where he stayed until retiring in 1979. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family outings and church activities.
He was a member of The Faith Church of God in Hermiston, a supporter of the Garibaldi Faith Fellowship Center in Garabaldi, OR and the ministerial work of Dan and Leilani Derrick of Ocean Park, WA. he is survived by his children.He was the grandfather of 17,great-grandfather of 21 and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva and parents Thomas and Birdie, two brothers, James and Tom, two sisters Viola and Effie, and one daughter-in-law Linda Borden.
