Johann Gottlob Friedrich Arnold was born in Meissenheim, Germany the son of Jakob and Barbara Wenz Arnold. German records show his name as: Johann Gottlob Friedrich Arnold. In America he was known as Frederick.
On November 14, 1843, in Meissenheim, he an Christina were married. The family immigrated to the United States leaving Le Havre, France the 14th of November 1851 aboard the ship "Beatrice". On January 28, 1852 they arrived at the port of arrival, New Orleans. They came to Iowa on April 11, 1852. There they farmed in Clayton County, purchasing many acres of land.
They were blessed with four children. Maria Barbara was born March 21, 1850 and died April 07, 1850 in Meissenheim, Germany. Christina settled in Clayton County while Frederick and Mary settled Hancock County, Iowa.
