On January 28, 1852 they arrived at the port of arrival, New Orleans. They came to Iowa on April 11, 1852. There they farmed in Clayton County, purchasing many acres of land.

They were blessed with four children. Maria Barbara was born March 21, 1850 and died April 07, 1850 in Meissenheim, Germany. Christina settled in Clayton County while Frederick and Mary settled Hancock County, Iowa.
