Brian Adams, age 48, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, September 19, 2005 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a bicycling accident. Brian Lee Adams was born September 15, 1957 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Otto Ray and Dorothy Jo (Schuffler) Adams. He was raised in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak Community High School in 1976. Brian served in the United States Navy from 1977-1981 receiving the Navy Expeditionary Medal. After his return from military service, Brian worked for Burke Construction erecting Steel buildings all over the country. He later worked for various factories in Red Oak and most recently was working with Steve Akers Painting. Brian loved fishing, old western movies, music, and was an avid Steelers fan. Most of all Brian loved spending time with his son, Gill.
Preceding him in death were his parents; niece: Tracey Adams; and nephew: Jeffrey Adams. Survivors include his son: Gill Bourn and Gill's mother, Jane Bourn of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 sisters: Vicki Jobe and husband Lee of Red Oak, Iowa; and Deb Veitz and husband Gary of Creston, Iowa; brother: Terry Adams and wife Diane of Red Oak, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Beth Griffeth and husband Tom of Red Oak, Iowa; Becky Sands of Red Oak, Iowa; Cathy Bush and special friend Richard Linfor of Red Oak, Iowa; Angie Collinsworth and husband Matt of Wichita, Kansas; Ryan Adams, U.S. Marine stationed in Iraq; Jeff Veitz and Lindsey Veitz both of Creston, Iowa; great nieces and nephew: Kya Wagner, Brooke Collinsworth, and Dakota Bush; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, September 22, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM Thursday prior to the funeral services. Memorials are suggested to the family.
