DIED.James Foster, at his home in Eddyville, Oct 23,1897, of typhoid pneumonia, aged 72 years.
Uncle Jimmy, as he was familiarly called, came to Eddyville in the early part of the fifties and was well known throughout this entire community. He enlisted in the Seventh Iowa cavalry and was a brave and courageous soldier, and an industrious and hard working man, until incapacitated by ill health, which was brought about by exposure during the war. He leaves a family of nine children. The remains were interred at the Bridgeport cemetery.
