Myrna F. Botos, 80, of Honey Creek, died Oct. 9, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
Myrna was born on June 27, 1929, near Loveland, Iowa, the daughter of Miner and Florence (Olsen) Nelson. She graduated from Missouri Valley High School in Normal Training in 1946. Myrna taught country school until 1952.
Myrna was married to Steve Botos on March 30, 1951, in Missouri Valley. They lived and farmed in the Missouri Valley area all of their lives. Steve died on April 1, 1998.
Myrna was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Missouri Valley. She taught Sunday School for more than 25 years, served on the church council and the fellowship committee.
Myrna worked for the Missouri Valley Community School District for more than 40 years, baking cookies, bread and cinnamon rolls for countless students, staff and faculty members.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 61 years.
Funeral Services were held Oct. 13, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley. Pastor Lynn Parsons officiated at the service. Don Aronson was the organist. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace" and "It is Well with My Soul." The St. Paul Church Choir sang "Offering."
Casket bearers were Kelly Gorham, Seth Gorham, Bill Botos, Steve Botos, Kevin Hutton, Kirk Nelson, William E. Fox and Randy McHugh.
Internment was in the Branson Cemetery near Loveland.
Hennessey Aman Funeral Home of Missouri Valley handled the arrangements.
Myrna was preceded in death by her husband Steve, her parents, brother Richard Nelson, and sisters Virginia Siebels and Joyce Hilderbrand.
She is survived by three daughters and their spouses: Carole and Richard Gorham of Woodbine; Kris and Russ Gaebel of Ashland, Neb.; and Sara and Marty Meyers of Independence, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kelly (and wife Gina) Gorham, Seth (and wife Megan) Gorham and Hannah Gaebel; and by five great-grandchildren, Zoe Gorham, Chase Gorham, Hays Gorham, Maxl Gorham and Sloane Gorham.
