Naomi Clark

DAVENPORT Naomi G. Clark, 87, of Davenport, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center-West Central Park, Davenport. Services in celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, where her family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Allen's Grove Cemetery, Donahue, Iowa, where military honors will be presented by the Donahue American Legion. Memorials in her name may be made to BVL-Bowlers Victory League, which raises money for veterans in Iowa, or Handicapped Development Center, Davenport.
Mrs. Clark was born in 1922 in Stockton, Iowa, to Floyd A. and Grace I. Nicewanner. She married John Cecil Clark on June 20, 1945, in Manila, Philippines. He died November 24, 1989. During World War II, she served with the U.S. Women's Army Corps (WAC), attaining the rank of Sergeant. Together with her husband, they farmed in Muscatine and Scott County, Iowa. An avid bowler, she served as past president of DBWBA (her bowling association), as secretary/treasurer of its 500 Club, as well as for the state and national 500 Bowling Clubs. She was honored with membership in the National Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also a member of the Donahue American Legion.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Otto (Michael Ford), of Rock Island; sons, James J. Clark, of Davenport, Sidney A. (Virginia) Clark, of Merrillville, Ind., Steven M. (Vicky) Clark, of Donahue, Iowa, and Quentin T. Clark, of Grand Mound, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gene Nicewanner, of Plainfield, Ill. She was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Nicewanner and Eunice Jean VanderHorn, and brother, Gerald Nicewanner.
