Jim had worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for more than 40 years as a Engineering Technician Specialist until his retirement in 2001.
He was a member of the Kansas National Guard.
On May 15, 1965 Jim was married to Eva Maddy in Stockton.
Jim was preceded in death by his father.
Jim is survived by his wife Eva of the home, his mother, Mabel Athon of Lyndon, three children, Kim Stich (Tim), Candace Athon and John Athon, a grandson Dustin and a great-granddaughter, Chloe, all of Topeka.
Funeral services for Jim will be held at 3:00p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon.
Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
