W.R. Abel Dead
William R. Abel of 906 East 7th died at his home, about two thirty o'clock this afternoon. His death came from old age, he passed away peacefully. On April 18, 1917, Mr. and Mrs. Abel celebrated their anniversary with all of the family at home. He was in good health but has been failing for several months.
William R. Abel was born in Canada, September 7, 1834. He would have been 87 years old next week. On April 18, 1867 he was married to Mary Catharine Moore, at Glenwood, Iowa. To this union were born five children, Vernon F. Abel of Winfield, Glen Abel of Kansas City, Fred S. Abel of Salina, G.R. Abel of Kansas City and Mrs. T.E. Hahn of El Dorado. The family came to Kansas in 1889 from Greenwood,Iowa and have lived here for thirty-two years. Mr. Abel farmed for several years east of Winfield, later moving to the home of this city. He is a member of the First Baptist church and of the Masonic Lodge.
The funeral will probably be held Sunday afternoon from the home but definite announcement will be made later. Mr. Frank Herriott will have charge.
