Albert G "Al" Amrein, 81, Hays, died Thursday, Oct 24, 2002, at Ellis Good Samaritan Center.
He was born April 22, 1921, in Liebenthal to Alex and Margaret (Kippes) Amrein.
He was a 1940 graduate of Victoria High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving a purple heart. He married Aurelia Sack on Sept 29, 1948, in Hays. He was a farmer-stockman for 44 years. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Hays.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Allan, Hays; a daughter, Annette Baker, Wichita; a brother, George, Ellis; two sisters, Isabel Sander and Rosemary Younger, both of Great Bend; and six grandchildren.
Services were Oct 26, 2002, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr David Metz officiating; burial in St Joseph Cemetery, Hays with graveside military honors by the Hays VFW.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hays Medical Center or the Ellis Good Samaritan Center.
Brock's North Hill Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
