Charles "Charlie" E. Dixon, 62, Junction City, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at a Junction City hospital.
Mr. Dixon worked for Housing Inspection at Fort Riley from 1983 until he retried in 1999. He earlier had worked for the Neodesha Fire Department for four years, the Forbes Field crash rescue team in Topeka for one year and the Fort Riley Fire Department for eight years.
He was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Neodesha, the son of Clifford and Nora Munn Dixon. He graduated from Neodesha High School in 1956. He had lived in Junction City the past 30 years.
Mr. Dixon was a member of the National Rifle Association, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He married Sharon Sissel on April 3, 1970, in Miami, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include five sons, Donald Dixon, Neodesha, David "Blaine" Morgan, Chapman, Tommy Morgan, Wichita, Larry Morgan, Junction City, and Shawn Morgan, Chouteau, Okla.; a daughter, Sue Northrup, Fort Meyers, Fla.; a sister, Wanda "Dixie" Smith, Fort Smith, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City. Burial will be at 1 p.m. today in Ross Cemetery in Neodesha.
