The death of C. W. Ackley recently at Miltonvale will necessitate the appointment of another, as township trustee. A new deputy assessor will be required also for the township of Starr and the city of Miltonvale. Mr. Ackley had begun his work as assessor and sent in a portion of his returns when he was suddenly called away.

MILTONVALE
Obituary.
William Ackley was born in Albany, Ill. [other records show he was born in Louisiana], July 14, 1854 and died in Miltonvale, Kan., Mar., 12, 1910. Age 55 years, 7 months and 28 days.
Mr. Ackley came to Kansas about 1873, settling near Miltonvale, where with the exception of 8 years lived in Illinois, he has since made his home. He was married to Miss Anna A. Whitcraft, April 21, 1878. To them were born 4 children, 2 of whom have gone on before. Two girls are yet living, Mrs. Pearl Goodreau, and Mrs. Mamie Proctor of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mr. Ackley has been identified with Miltonvale public life for a good many years, serving faithfully and honorably in various public offices. He has served as city marshal as constable, deputy sheriff and for several terms has held the office of trustee and assessor.
He was a leading member of the Masonic Lodge which will miss him as they are called from labor to refreshments. Mr. Ackley was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances which he had gained by his integrity and uprightness of life. The sorrowing children and relatives have the deepest sympathy of all in their sad bereavement.
The funeral was held at the Christian church Monday. The Mason's had charge and marched in a body.
