Iva Theodosia Smith Adams

Iva Theodosia Smith Adams, daughter of Marcia Isilda and Albert Francis Smith was born in Chamberlain, Soth Dakota, February 15, 1890, and departed this life, April 30, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 15 days.

As a small child, she with her family moved from South Dakota to Studgart, Arkansas and resided there a short time before coming by covered wagon to Jackson County.

She attended school and grew to womanhood in Jackson County.

May 25, 1909 she was united in marriage to Joseph Adams at Holton. He died July 27, 1929.

After her husband's death, Iva's mother came to make her home with her until the mother's death in 1944.

Since the fall of 1946, Elnora Glenn has made her home with Iva.

At an early age she became a member of the First Methodist Church of Holton and was a very active member of the church.

She was employed as a clerk at several Holton businesses.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and one sister.

She leaves to mourn her passing, Elnora Glenn, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Mercer Funeral Home Friday morning with the Rev. Roy West officiating. Musical arrangements were by Mrs. Ray Wright. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Glenn Smith, Ernest Smith, Robert Stous, Orvis Blossom and Eugene Durham.
