Elva Emma Cristina Allen, 94, formerly of Douglass, died Dec. 6, 2000, at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Douglass Christian Church, Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass Christian Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home or church.
Allen was born Dec. 3, 1906, in Lindsborg, to Emma (Johnson) and Carl Albin Carlman. As a child, she moved to Rock and then to Douglass where the family ran a hotel.. After graduating from Douglass High School in 1925, she taught in country schools.
On August 31, 1927, she married Willis Edwin Allen in Winfield, and they made their home in Douglass. A homemaker, she also did substitute teaching after her children were grown. She helped with the election board for over 10 years.
Allen was a member of the Douglass Christian Church and involved in many other organizations, including the Rebekahs, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, Patriarch Militant, Coffee Drinkers Club, Quilt Guild and March of Dimes Coffees.
Survivors include a son, Willis Elbert Allen, Douglass; a brother, Bud Carlman, Georgetown, Texas; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Evelyn Joyce Spencer, died March 23, 2000.
