Mildred was the daughter of Emery and Helen Cass who lived on a ranch north-east of Collyer, Kansas where Emery homesteaded in 1878. Mildred grew up on the farm, finished high school at WaKeeney and went to college at Lawrence, Manhattan and Hays City all in Kansas. She taught school several years in Kansas and California. Her birth date was May 26, 1895.
Mildred married Stephen M. Beason son of Ephraim & Adenia (Stephens) Beason.
Steve and Mildred moved to San Diego, California in 1942 where both worked at Con-vair during World War 11. After the war was over, Steve carpentered for a while and Mildred taught school. In July, 1946, he joined the sales force of Stanley Home Products, Inc. The following November, he was promoted to Unit Manager. April 1, 1951, he advanced to the position of San Diego Branch Branch Manager for Stanley, which position he held until January 3, 1963 when he retired. Mildred did sales work for the company for 14 years. Of that time, she was Unit Manager for 11 years. She retired in May, 1961.

They purchased a home in San Diego in 1946. Since their retirement, they have done much traveling while gathering information for this family history.
Six children were born to them. All grew to maturity, married, and have established homes of their own.
