Mary Maxine Colton, age 87, of Galena was released from the weight of this world to soar with Jesus Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 4:50 a.m. She was born July 19, 1923 in Girard, KS to Boyd and Ellen Carter. She married the love of her life, Dean Colton on October 27, 1952, he preceded her in death November 9, 1986. She was the mother of two daughters, Deana Colton Maurer of Webb City and Mary Shields McComb of White City, KS and they survive. Also surviving is a sister, Elizabeth Humphrey of Pittsburg, KS; 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Glena Fricke and Flossie Reynolds. Although she lived in many places and had many jobs, Maxine's focal points in life were her love for Christ, sharing her faith, and loving her family. Graveside Services will be Friday, at 11:00 a.m. October 15, 2010 at the Bird Cemetery south of Pittsburg. The Rev. Jerry Mayfield will officiate.
