Ruth L. Allen, 59, died Sunday, May 21, 2006 at her residence, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born Feb. 1, 1947, in Wathena, she resided in Wathena her entire life.
Mrs. Allen graduated from Wathena High School in 1965 and continued her education, graduating from Hillyard Technical College in 1966 as an LPN.
She was employed for three years at Sister's hospital; one year at St. Joseph Convalescent Center; 27 years for Dr. Even Peterson General Practice; the last 10 years she has been employed by Heartland Health Comprehensive Family Care Center.
Throughout her nursing career, she was greatly devoted to all of her patients and families.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her father, Raymond W. Kirschbaum; her brother, William Kirschbaum; her mother-in-law, Rosa L. Allen; an infant nephew, Trevor Allen; and nephew, Lee Emmerich.
She was a member of Wathena United Methodist Church, Wathena, Kan., and The Order of Eastern Star in Wathena.
Survivors: Her husband, Fred L. Allen, whom she married Nov. 27, 1968; a daughter, Heather R. Allen both of the residence; her mother, Virginia L "Wise" Kischbaum and father-in-law, Francis L. Allen of Wathena; two brothers-in-law, Charles Allen and Paul Allen; one sister-in-law, Donna Kirschbaum; and several nieces and nephews.
