Connie J. Remby, 47, formerly of Raytown, Mo., died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca. She was admitted to the care home on March 7, 2003 after being diagnosed with breast cancer and in November 2000 was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Ms. Remby was a licensed practical nurse and worked for one year in the Sabetha Hospital and later at Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka and in the psychiatric and burn units at The University of Kansas Medical Center. She was employed with Dr. John Moore at Research Hospital in Kansas City from 1994 to November 2000. Her health made it necessary for her to retire.
She was born March 16, 1956, in Axtell, to Leonard and Ruth (Barnes). She was reared on a farm south of Baileyville and graduated from B & B High School in 1974. She worked as a candy striper at the Axtell Hospital and took nursing courses at the Vocational Technical School in Emporia.
Ms. Remby attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raytown, Mo.
Survivors include two sons, Ryan and Lucas ; a daughter, Camille; her parents, Leonard and Ruth; two sisters, Terry and Jackie Berkley; and her grandmother, Millie.
The church choir sang. Lector was Gary Haug and the eucharistic ministers were Mary Jane Deters and Glen Meyer. Servers were Dani Meyer and Tyler Berkley. Giftbearers were Pat and Don Dalinghaus.
Pallbearers were James W., Larry W., Mike B., David S., Bill B., and J.B..
Mass of Christian Burial was be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Burial was in the church cemetery.
