Katherine Vlachos Adams, 87, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, as the sun rose, Thursday morning June 11th.
She was a gentle, caring, sweet, person. Wife of the late Thomas Adams, she leaves behind her sons, Thomas J. Adams, James Adams, and daughter, Lauren James of Marblehead. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Tina Rhodes and husband Colin, Frank James and wife Amie, Tammie James, and 3 great-grandchildren, Ryan Rhodes, Peter Rhodes, and Laurelle Kay James all of Marblehead.
Many people will remember her from her 20 years of employment at the Swampscott Marshalls, where she would light up their day with her engaging personality and helpful advice.
She also served as a volunteer usher at the North Shore Music Theater, adding a bit to the show itself. Katherine was also a home health aide for many years through the Marblehead Visiting Nurses Association and was loved by all she cared for.
Playing guitar, piano and singing on local radio in the 40's rounded her musical side. Belly dancing was also a passion, which she was not shy to perform even at 87. In the Greek tradition, as a great cook, you never left Kays home hungry. With her selfless way, wit, and great love for all, she will be sorely missed. Sagapo Yiayia!
A funeral service was held in the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Monday, June 15 at 11AM. Burial in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours were held on Sunday from 4-7PM. Please visit the online guestbook at www.eustisandcornellfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Visiting Nurses Association.
