Gilbert was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served aboard the USS Hinsdale at the Battle of Iwo Jima. He worked for Boston Edison Co. for 45 years. He moved to Center Ossipee in 2005. He was a member of Good Shepard Church in Reading MA.
Following his retirement from Boston Edison, Mr. Adams enjoyed ice skating, which he did several days a week until age 90.
He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia (Proctor) Adams, in 2002.
Family members include his sons Gilbert C. Adams, Jr., of Center Ossipee and George K. Adams of Barrington NH; daughter Nancy V. Orozco of Tampa FL; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Interment was to be in Newton Cemetery in Newton MA at a later date.
