MM Second Class, USN. Son of Mr. and Mrs. August Anderson. Entered the service at Peoria, as Machinist Mate, 2nd Class, June 4, 1918; to Great Lakes; to Bay Bridge, NYC; in service 1 year, 21 days; discharged June 25, 1919.
Robert Leo Anderson, 65, of 30 Beverly Rd., Newton Highlands, Mass., brother of the late Joe E. Anderson, former Galesburg mayor, died Friday at 9:30 p.m. in his home. He had been ill several months.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Newton Center, Mass., and burial will be at Newton Center. The body is at the Joyce and Joyce Funeral Home, 1320 Center St., Newton Center.
Mr. Anderson was born June 27, 1896, in Galesburg and resided here during the early part of his life. In Galesburg, he was employed as an automobile salesman. He retired last May as district canned foods manager, New England division of Swift and Co. He had resided in Chicago prior to moving to the east coast.
Surviving are his wife, a son and a daughter, Robert Jr., and Miss Susan Anderson, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Freda Larson of 729 Jefferson St., last of a family of seven children, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers, the former mayor and Linneus Anderson of Galesburg.
