Helen F. (Pankevich) Pinky Alksninis, 79, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Sept. 25, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was a daughter of the late Anthony Pankevich and Anna Pankevich-Bubin and graduated from Brockton High School in 1948. She worked in the kitchen at Sandara Club and for many years was a switchboard operator at Brockton Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church and formerly St. Casimir Church and enjoyed reading, music and watching television. Helen was the wife of the late Frank S. Alksninis; beloved mother of Kathleen Richard (and James) of East Taunton, Michael (and Barbara) of Mansfield and Dennis (and Dianne) of Brockton; grandmother of Christopher, Courtney and Robert Richard, West Point graduated U.S. Army Captain Michael, Matthew, Megan and Lois Alksninis; an aunt; a cousin of many; and a close friend of Vinny and Donna Myles and John Drusinskas and Sherylee Hopwood. All are welcome to calling hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton.
