Celia Marie Banister, 80, of Randolph, Maine, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2011. She was born February 17, 1930 in Anson, Maine, the daughter of Charles O. Moody and Euleta Welts Moody of Madison. After graduating from Madison High School in 1950, Celia worked in shoe shops for 40 years. In 1983 she went to work at Gardiner Estates and worked as a personal care assistant until her retirement in 2000. Celia was pre-deceased by her parents as well as her brother and four sisters. She was also pre-deceased by her husband, Harold W. Banister, her son, Richard C. Banister and the love of her life and companion of 19 years, Wardell Gilcott. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Sampson of Lewiston, her son and best friend, Dana Banister of Randolph and her son David Banister and his wife Amanda of West Gardiner. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Sylvia, Elias, Brad, Christina, Garrett, Taylor and Ryan. She also leaves behind many special family members and friends. At Celia's request, there will be no visiting hours. A celebration of her life will be held at Kennebec Community Church at 5 Glenridge Drive in Augusta, Maine on Thursday Jan., 13th at 6pm. A spring burial date will be announced for friends and family. Our deepest appreciation goes to the MaineGeneral Medical Center's Emergency Room and MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Gray Birch for their wonderful care and support. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, Gardiner.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made towards funeral expenses c/o Dana Banister, 45 Windsor Street, Randolph, ME 04346.
