ORLAND - Mary H. Doane died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. Mary was born June 22, 1924, in Provincetown, Mass. She was daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Decosta.

She lived and worked in a retail clothing store in Provincetown, Mass., and also helped to raise her younger siblings after her mother's passing. In 1950, Mary moved to Milford and married Dana A. Doane Sr. of Passadumkeag. She spent most of her lifetime as a bridal seamstress and later working in retail sales. After retirement, Mary spent her days enjoying planting flowers and watching the loons of Toddy Pond in Orland where she resided until 2007. After that, she was a resident of the Maine Veteran's Home in Bangor where she battled Alzheimer's disease up until her death.

She is survived by her son, Dana A. Doane Jr. and his wife, Carrie, of Orland; a stepdaughter, Deanna Doane of Eddington; a grandson, Donald Prather of Bangor; a granddaughter, Violet Grindle and husband, Isaac; and great-granddaughter, Abigail of Oceanside, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Marie Haseltine and husband, Claire, of Milford, Pat Abbott of Milford, Francis Weigensma of Glenburn, Margaret Dyer of Bangor, Beatrice Doane of Orono; brothers-in-law, Edward Doane and his wife, Gloria, of Greenbush, Hugh Doane of Milford; and numerous nieces and nephews, many cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Dana A. Doane Sr.; her mother and father; her brothers, Henry, Anthony and Joseph DeCosta; her sister, Elizabeth May DeCosta, all of Provincetown, Mass.
