Portland – C. Earle Aaskov, 91, husband of the late Virginia (Cornish) Aaskov with whom he shared 59 years of marriage, died Monday, June 18, 2007 at Seaside Nursing Home in Portland after a period of failing health.
He was born October 20, 1914 in Portland, ME a son of Clifton A. and Mabel (Wright) Aaskov.
He attended schools in Portland and graduated from Deering High School with the Class of 1932. Mr. Aaskov graduated from MCI in Pittsfield, ME and received a Bachelor's degree from Boston University in 1938. While at Boston University he excelled at football, track and hockey.
He was a member of the Portland Masonic Club and was a life member of the Cornerstone Lodge #216 A.F. & A.M. of Portland.
He was an avid hockey fan and held season tickets since the inception of the Maine Mariners, where he was President of the Boosters Club to the present Pirates organization. He attended games regularly up until his health prevented it in 2005. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his two daughters Judith Criscuolo of Peabody, MA and Carol Theriault of Portland, ME, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 11-1 PM on Friday, June 22, 2007 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland followed by a funeral service at 1 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Philip Shearman officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland.
