LOCAL CIVIC LEADER DIES HERE FRIDAY

Gay (Gerhardt) Abraham, Barron civic leader and a member of the Barron business community since 1960 died suddenly at his home on Friday, April 28.

Mr. Abraham moved to Barron in 1960. He and his wife owned and operated the Coast to Coast store here until his retirement in 1975. He had been recently employed as a school bus driver for the Barron Area Schools.

He was born in Pipestone, Minn., on March 17, 1910 and graduated from high school there. He was married to Helen Keller at Pipestone in 1936.

They lived in Ellsworth where Mr. Abraham operated a trucking business for 16 years before moving to Barron.

He was a member of the Barron Masonic lodge, Eastern Star, Zor Shrine and Eau Claire Consistory, the Rice Lake Elks club, the Barron Kiwanis club, the Barron Golf club and the Barron Civic club. He bowled on the Erickson Village team and the McGinnis Signs team.

He was a member of the United Methodist church at Barron.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary of Cottage Grove, Minn., James of Madison and ronald of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Beverly Fossum of Seattle, Wash.; three grandsons; two sisters Mrs. Luella Crimmons of Mesa, Ariz. and Mrs. Gladys Culver of St. Paul.

Funeral services were conducted at the United Methodist church at Barron on Mon. May 1 with the Rev. James Carrico officiating. Internment was at Wayside cemetery at Barron.
